Child Protection, Safeguarding and Inclusion

At The Green Way Academy we ensure every measure is taken to safeguard any child who is at risk.

Under the 1989 Children Act, we have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are in need.  We  ensure that children in our Academy are protected from harm; any child we believe to be at risk of significant harm is reported to the appropriate service.

The academy's Inclusion Team work closely with many different services to support the needs of our pupils and families. Our main aim is to ensure children are free from harm at all times and feel safe in school. Please find links below that offer guidance and the policies we follow in school.

UPDATE! We are an Operation Encompass School from September 2017!

We are writing to let you know about an innovative project that schools in Humberside are participating in. The project, called Operation Encompass, is being run in partnership with Humberside Police.

The project aims to support children who are affected by Domestic Abuse. Being exposed to domestic abuse is distressing for a young person, who can often see the abuse, hear it from another room, see a parent's injuries or distress afterwards or be physically hurt trying to stop the abuse.

As a result, following any domestic abuse incident being reported into Humberside Police specialist Police Officers will make contact with the school and communicate relevant and necessary information to nominated and trained school staff.  This will ensure that the school is made aware before the start of the next school day and can subsequently provide support in a way that means the child feels safe.

Each school has a member of staff (Maria Woods) who has been fully trained to liaise with the Police, when required, and will ensure that necessary support is made available to the child following the disclosure of a domestic abuse incident.

We believe that this project demonstrates the schools commitment to working in partnership, to safeguard and protect children, and to providing the best possible care and support for our pupils.

In the meantime, if you would like to speak to someone about the project or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact maria Woods on 01482 331378
