Parents Forum

Please join us!

Hello Parents,

2 years ago the school launched the Parent Forum and it is still going strong! These meetings take place each month and all parents are invited. The meetings are very informal and give you the chance to have your say in the running of your school. Amongst other things, last year the School Forum:
  • Discussed Ofsted developments and the school improvement plan
  • Met with Ofsted to discuss school improvement and helped us make the grade
  • Were consulted on new school policies and practices
  • Carried out learning walks
  • Carried out book scrutinies
  • Helped the school shape it's new vision
  • Discussed attendance and gave the school ideas on how to improve it

Our next meeting is on:

Thursday 6th July 2017 at 2:00pm

At our last meeting...

At the recent Parents Forum Meeting we discussed the change to the school timetable next year and the result of the vote. Two thirds of the parents voted YES to a 1pm finish on Fridays and an earlier start and later finish Monday-Thursday. It was agreed that the proposed timetable change will go ahead with careful planning. The Parents Forum then discussed the clubs that would be available on a Friday from 1pm to 3pm for parents whose circumstances would be affected by this earlier finish. Mr Bush will write to all parents informing them that the majority of parents want this timetable change and the range of clubs that will be available on a Fridays from 1pm. The school will endeavour to ensure this big change is managed as smoothly as possible.

Other Issues discussed included:
  • The new school mascot
  • Could the school look again at lunchtime organisation to ensure that all year groups get the time and choice they deserve
  • A change to holidays and a consultation with other schools in the local area for 2018-19
  • An all weather sports pitch to prevent accidents and create more space. Parents are to create a petition for parents to sign so that AET can look into this investment for us
  • Bikes being ridden on the playground are a hazard
  • Issues around parking. Please use the parking bays provided in both car parks and avoid blocking 19th Avenue and our neighbour's drives
  • Class dojos and awards. This will be reviewed next year to ensure consistency and fairness for all pupils.
